- Return Home Interviews (missing from home or care)
When a young person runs away or goes missing from home or care and has returned, apart from the police safe and well check a return home interview should be carried out shortly after. It is often difficult for the young person to do this with staff or police, from experience of setting up the East Sussex young runaway’s service we found that young people would speak to an adult independent of the home and not in uniform. RHI’s enable the home to identify risks, sexual exploitation and places of interest that the young people would go to, this information is sensitively passed on to the police for intelligence or further investigation.
A one to two hour session spent in discussion with the young person either in the home or out locally if they want more privacy.
A written report of the visit and telephone feedback with the manager can be provided if requested, but only with the young person’s agreement or without if we feel there are any safeguarding issues that need to be passed to relevant authorities.
Once you have advertised for staff and have your application forms returned we will, for an inclusive price work with the registered manager on the shortlisting process, help develop interview questions bespoke to your home and sit on the interview panel with you to assess the suitability of candidates ensuring you pick the right staff for your home.
AQA units are achievable qualifications for young people which are gained by practising everyday tasks and things young people are individually best at, such as:
- Health and hygiene
- Food and nutrition
- Home safety
- Independent living skills
- Preparation for work
- Personal safety and practical life skills.
In addition we can help homes to develop a training matrix for their staff and support registered managers with budgeting and financial viability.
We also work with you on improving your Ofsted rating and preparing for inspection, working with the team on how to build on the existing good work to reach outstanding or to sustain it.
